CONFIDENTIAL GENETIC TESTING
NEW POLYGENIC RISK SCORE
A Polygenic Risk Score is a type of genetic testing to estimate how your genes may affect your risk for certain health conditions. Most common diseases aren’t caused by a single “bad gene.” Instead, they happen because of the combined effect of many small genetic changes, plus lifestyle and environmental factors (like nutrition, exercise, sleep, substance use, and stress). A polygenic risk score adds up the effects of thousands of tiny genetic variations to give an overall estimate of your inherited genetic risk.

KEY POINTS:

-
It’s not a diagnosis. It only tells you whether your inherited risk is higher or lower than average.
-
Your environment and lifestyle (like substance use, nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress) can raise or lower your actual risk a lot, regardless of your genes.
-
The information can sometimes help guide prevention. For example, deciding how early or how often to screen for a disease.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
WHAT TO EXPECT
After you complete your registration, you will be contacted by my medical assistant to review and sign a consent form and schedule an appointment. At that appointment, a cotton tip swab will be used to get a sample of your inner cheek cells. It takes up to 6 weeks to get results back. You will then be sent an email with a detailed explanation and you will have an option to schedule a video visit with Dr. Kainth to discuss.
$450 (no matter how many diseases are tested)
