A Polygenic Risk Score is a type of genetic testing to estimate how your genes may affect your risk for certain health conditions. Most common diseases aren’t caused by a single “bad gene.” Instead, they happen because of the combined effect of many small genetic changes, plus lifestyle and environmental factors (like nutrition, exercise, sleep, substance use, and stress). A polygenic risk score adds up the effects of thousands of tiny genetic variations to give an overall estimate of your inherited genetic risk.
